Perpetual Eucharistic AdorationPerpetual Eucharistic Adoration

A wonderful way to experience the Real Presence of Our Lord Jesus Christ in the Blessed Sacrament of the Eucharist is to take time to be with Him and to learn to listen to Him.
Become a guardian of the Eucharist!   For more information or to sign up, please e-mail the Eucharistic Adoration Ministry.

The Jerusalem Cross. By this sign you will conquer.Hail O Cross, Our Only Hope!Veneration of the True CrossVeneration of the True Cross

We venerate the Relic of the True Cross, splinters from the Wood of the Cross, enshrined in our church because the Most Holy Cross was the instrument on which Our Lord made His supreme sacrifice for our salvation.  It was soaked in His Most Precious Blood.  And through this we recognize that the Cross of Christ has become the Tree of Life.

"Pilgrimages evoke our earthly journey toward heaven and are traditionally very special occasions for renewal in prayer.  For pilgrims seeking living water, shrines are special places for living the forms of Christian prayer 'in Church.'"
Catechism of the Catholic Church, no. 2691

We welcome all to make a pilgrimage to the Shrine of the True Cross, whether a day pilgrimage from the Houston area or a pilgrimage from a far distance, whenever the church is open for services.  Pilgrims may venerate the Relic of the True Cross just before and just after Masses.

We celebrate a pro-life Mass on the first Saturday of each month at 10:00 a.m.  The Mass is followed by a Rosary procession to the grotto of the Blessed Virgin Mary on the church grounds.

Master plan of the future of our parish! Click for details.Come Grow with Us!Come Grow with Us!

We remember the building of our first church more than 100 years ago, a small mission of 125 Catholic families named St. Joseph's.  We look to the future as we grow in worship and service to Our Lord, with almost 2,800 families now in the Shrine of the True Cross parish.

The master architectural plan of our parish is complete.  We endeavor to transform the Shrine into a beautiful and worthy place to promote the devotion to the Cross of Christ.  We strive to lift high the Cross in proclamation of the Lord's sacrifice for our redemption.

Eucharistic Adoration for Vocations at the Shrine:

  • September 11-17, 2010
  • Daniel Cardinal DiNardo, Archbishop of Galveston-Houston, has invited all parishioners to join in Adoration for Vocations.  On September 11th our parish will receive a monstrance blessed by Cardinal DiNardo, who has asked that we unite in prayerful adoration for an increase in vocations to the priestly and religious life.
  • Adoration for Vocations will occur in an important week for the Shrine of the True Cross.  The titular feast day of the Shrine, the Feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross - September 14, and the Memorial to Our Lady of Sorrows - September 15, are important days to reflect on the priesthood and religious life, as we remember Our Lord Jesus Christ on the Cross, and His Sorrowful Mother, models of sacrifice for God and for humanity.  Visitors and pilgrims to the Shrine are welcome to join in Adoration.
  • For more information or to register, call the Archdiocesan Office of Vocations at 713-652-8239 or go online at www.houstonvocations.com.
